If you have been following Beck’s Record Club project, you know that his 4th installment has been shared in it’s entirety. Much like the clean-up hitter in baseball, the coveted 4th slot has knocked one out of the park. This time the artists are covering INXS’s Kick, and it is obvious that the audio and video recording has reached new levels of fantastic with the experience gained.
Record Club: INXS “Guns In The Sky” from Beck Hansen on Vimeo.
I’ve just recently been really into St. Vincent, She/They have been getting plenty of rotations on the turntable lately, so it was especially cool to see Annie Clark pop up in Beck’s Record Club. If you haven’t heard her stuff before, definitely go check it out. She’s an incredibly talented musician, bound to do great things.
So either I could tell you about each song, and lose you in the thicket of boredom, or I could just share this stuff with you. So take a hit and take it in. It’s some really good stuff.
If you want it all, do me the favor of downloading the entire album in one handy .zip file to save my server and your time!

Thanks for providing a link to download the songs xoxo
I don’t know about your musical taste. I am one of those people that found your site randomly and have not returned for the music advice. More for the fascinating stories. Your a loner. A rebel. I respect that. Keep them blue!
Thanks for the songs! Watch out for the man……..
I am aware of the man, and do not believe that I am doing anything wrong. Beck is not selling these songs, as they are all available on his website in video format. So the man ain’t got shit on me.
Bleublls – Glad to see you around these parts again. I’ll work on documenting more stories of madness in upcoming entries for you.
hey buddy-
Like you i’m a huge beck fan, but i haven’t been too into his Record club tunes. Record club Beck is still better than no Beck at all though!
This is probably the best of the Record club albums that i’ve heard. To a person that doesn’t know the original i could see how someone would like this. And maybe it’s because i’m a fan of the original album, but i’m not sure they did Kick justice.
Do yourself a favor and put on the original and turn it up. The Record Club slowed it down too much and over produced it. I understand experimenting with existing songs is part of the fun of the Record Club, but i wish they chose an album where the original wasn’t good and they spiced it up instead. Kick was awesome in it’s time and an is an under-rated album.
Songs they did a good job with:
Need You Tonight
Never Tear Us Apart
Guns in the Sky
Ones i didn’t like:
New Sensation
Wild Life
The rest were just eh. I probably wouldn’t want to listen to them again.
By the way, no offense to you dave.
BUT WHAT I really do like is the video you posted. Seeing them do the recording session is much cooler than the songs themselves.
pee holes in my face.
I appreciate your in-depth comment, Eddie. In some ways I agree with you, but in others, not so much. I am very familiar with the original, and this in no way takes away from Beck’s version.
I like how it is slowed down. Without that, this would be too much like the original, and if you know me, you know that I don’t like covers that sound exactly like the originals.
But I do appreciate your feedback.
Enough that I’ll urinate on your face.
Thanks!
you are right, covers that sound too much like the original are usually worthless.
how about beck covers a public enemy album next. or maybe take a band that everyone hates (Rush) and mixes them up to be something awesome.
it’s warm and golden. mmmmmmm….
